Guilherme C FerrazDr. Guilherme Ferraz majored in Veterinary Medicine in 1998 at São Paulo State University – FCAV/UNESP, Jaboticabal, São Paulo, Brazil. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology as well as Therapeutics and Equine Exercise Physiology in the Department of Animal Morphology and Physiology, São Paulo State University – FCAV/UNESP. His Master’s and PhD studies focused on investigating the pharmacologic and ergogenic effects of administering drugs like caffeine, aminophylline or clenbuterol and oral supplements (creatine) on physiologic variables in exercising horses. In 2010, he completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at UNESP performing research investigations on exercising horses, especially on exercise testing in the field. Since then, his research has been focused on training prescription through lactate threshold determination in horses and dogs and relevant factors to successful athletic performance and welfare. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science.
