There is so much to do in and around Spier and Cape Town which makes this the ideal conference to bring your partner, family, friends or children. If you don’t usually bring an accompanying person for fear they may become bored whilst you are in the conference, then Spier and Cape Town is the perfect time to change this. Within Spier there is the opportunity for relaxation by the pool with a view over the mountains or perhaps a visit to the Spa and the opportunity to learn more about wine with expert wine-tasting.

There is also a Wildlife Outreach programme and the opportunity to get very very close (too close perhaps for some!) to Cheetah and Eagles. For the more energetic there is horse riding, golf and fishing within a few minutes walk on the estate. Slightly further afield there are the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens and the historic town of Stellenbosch to explore. Travelling slightly farther afield is downtown Cape Town and fantastic shopping. Everything from local craft markets to designer shops in the waterfront arcade. For the adventurous there are very reasonably priced helicopter flights from the waterfront over Cape Town, Cape Point and Table Mountain. There are also numerous opportunities for harbour and other sea cruises.

Again, if shopping is really a passion there are some huge shopping malls in the area. There are also hop-on hop-off open deck sightseeing buses. As far as wildlife you can take a guided tour to one of the game reserves in the area (2-3h drive) or visit the penguin colony. There is also the opportunity to take a drive along the beautiful and rugged coast of the south-western and southern Cape and if you really want something to tell everyone back home, try cage-diving to meet the sharks that are common along the Cape coast. And finally, believe it or not, there are guided tours into the township areas which are 100% safe. There is so much to do and so much variety that we can only describe a fraction of what is on offer and this really is the conference to bring an accompanying person.
